Planning & Zoning
The Division manages land use development by implementing the Comprehensive Plan, administering the regulations of the subdivision ordinance and zoning ordinance, as well as other plans, policies and procedures of the city. Staff provides support to City Council, the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment to ensure quality development and redevelopment that is in compliance with community standards.
The City of Murphy is paperless in terms of submittals and resubmittals. All required materials shall be submitted in electronic formats – Adobe PDF via email; via your Dropbox and send to firstname.lastname@example.org; or on a CD/DVD or flash drive.

All Development applications are heard by both the Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission and City Council except for most final plats which go directly before City Council.
Application submittal deadlines are at 3:00pm on the date listed.
All meetings are held at Murphy City Hall, 206 N. Murphy Road, Murphy, Texas. Meetings are subject to cancellation at the discretion of the P&Z Commission and City Council.

Construction / Preliminary Plats, Final Plats (includes amending or replats)
Please contact us for exact dates for Plat applications. We generally accept plats on the exact day that is four weeks prior to the respective meeting the plat is to be considered. *All Final Plats go directly to City Council, and should be submitted to the City on those days which are four weeks prior to the respective City Council Meeting (City Council meetings are on the first and third Tuesday of each month.)
