HB 1378 Debt Transparency

The 84th Legislative passed HB 1378 to increase the transparency of local government debt.  Under Local Government Code § 140.008, political subdivisions, including counties, cities, school districts, junior college districts, special purpose districts, and the other subdivisions of state government must annually compile their debt obligation data from the preceding fiscal year.

HB 2404 / CH 380 Economic Development Agreements

The 87th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 2404 (HB 2404) to increase transparency of local economic development agreements, also known as Chapter 380 Agreements.  The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts maintains a database of such agreements.  The applicable agreements for the City of Murphy can be viewed on the database by "clicking here.”
