Murphy, Texas (August 29, 2025) — The City of Murphy is pleased to announce Donald Reese as its new Public Works Director, bringing more than 20 years of experience in municipal leadership, public works, and utility management.
Donald most recently served as a consultant with LSPS Solutions, collaborating with municipalities across Texas to deliver specialized public works and public utility services. He is known for his reliability, professionalism, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Prior to his consulting role, Donald served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Brenham, overseeing Public Services and Public Utilities.
Perhaps the most notable part of his public service career thus far, was his service to the City of Victoria. Beginning as a staff accountant, he steadily advanced through a variety of increasingly responsible positions, ultimately serving as the Director of Public Works. His extensive experience in Victoria equipped him with an comprehensive understanding of city operations, fiscal management, and the delivery of essential services to residents.
Earlier in his career, he worked in public sector auditing with a CPA firm in Victoria, gaining valuable insight into governmental financial practices.
A graduate of the University of Houston–Victoria, Donald earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1997. He also holds a Double “AA” Water/Wastewater License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and is an active member of the Texas Water Utilities Association, the American Water Works Association, and the American Public Works Association.
Outside of work, Donald enjoys the outdoors with his wife, DeDe, and their two college-aged sons, Tanner and Cooper.
“Donald’s extensive experience and proven leadership in public works and utilities make him an outstanding addition to our team,” said City Manager, Aretha Adams. “His skills and collaborative spirit will be a tremendous asset to Murphy as we continue enhancing services for our community.”
