Gamers take the stage at Mother & Son Extravaganza
Fifth annual event takes video game theme
MURPHY (March 1, 2023) To recognize and honor the extraordinary connection between sons and their mothers, the City of Murphy is presenting its Fifth Annual Mother and Son Extravaganza on Saturday, March 25 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Set for the Murphy Community Center, 205 North Murphy Road, the title for this year’s gathering is “The Final Score” and relates directly to the popularity of video games such as Super Mario, Dragonball, Minecraft, Pokemon, Spyro, Spiderman, Harry Potter, Sonic, and many others.
The yearly event is put on by the Murphy Parks and Recreation Department and presents a unique opportunity for mothers and sons to create more lasting memories and have lots of fun at the same time.
“Our theme will once again provide a unique dress-up opportunity for mothers and sons,” says Recreation Specialist Greg Dunn. "The video game landscape offers an incredible number of possibilities for some really cool cosplay. The entries in our costume contest will be truly electrifying!"
In addition to a DJ providing dance music, the evening’s festivities will feature a costume contest, mother and son video game inspired activities, raffles, a professional photographer, and a wide array of light refreshments. The video game theme will be prominent throughout the venue and as part of the evening’s activities.
Cost is $30 for mother and one son, with a $15 fee for any additional sons. Registration can be completed by visiting https://secure.rec1.com/TX/murphy-tx/catalog and clicking on the yellow Special Events tab. Account holders may register immediately, and those without an account can create one at no cost. Registration should be made under the son’s name.
