[ARCHIVED] Daddy Daughter Dance set for Feb. 4

Daddy Daughter Dance

Murphy holds seventh annual Daddy Daughter Dance

‘A Magical Evening’ includes magic show

MURPHY (January 5, 2023) It’s said that a father holds his daughter’s hand for a short while, but he holds her heart forever. The identity of the quotation’s author has been lost to history, but it’s as true today as it has ever been. To celebrate that special bond, the City of Murphy is hosting the seventh annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Feb. 4.

“Our theme this year is A Magical Evening, and we’re planning to include a special performance that’s in keeping with our theme,” says Murphy Recreation Specialist Greg Dunn. “Attendees will be treated to a magic show by renowned magician David Gish. The entertaining performance will add an extraordinary touch to an extremely memorable evening.”

The magic show will be followed by dinner, dancing, refreshments, and fun activities like crafts, prizes, a photo booth, and a limbo contest. Raffles will be held throughout the evening.

The highly popular event is set for Saturday, Feb. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Murphy Community Center, 205 North Murphy Road. Cost is $35 for a daddy and one daughter, and $15 for each additional daughter. There are no age limitations, making the event open to daughters of all ages.

Registration is required and can be accomplished by visiting and clicking on the yellow Special Events tab. Then, clicking on the Daddy Daughter Dance link and logging on to register will complete the process. The event sells out early each year with only a limited number of tickets available.

Tickets for the daddy and daughter can be purchased on the website, and additional tickets for more than one daughter may be purchased online as well. Tickets purchased online can either be picked up at the MCC before the event or at the reception desk on the evening of the event.

Individuals and businesses can become part of the magical evening by either volunteering to assist with the event or by providing gifts, merchandise, or services for the raffles. Information on tickets or the event can be obtained by calling (972) 468-4444 or by sending an email message to
