[ARCHIVED] Keep Murphy Beautiful sets Fall Sweep

KMB (small)

Keep Murphy Beautiful sets Fall Sweep for October 23

MURPHY (October 11, 2021) It’s called the Keep Murphy Beautiful Fall Sweep, but instead of measuring TV ratings, this fall sweep is all about cleaning up one of Murphy’s most beloved parks.

Community volunteers are being recruited for the KMB Fall Sweep, scheduled for the morning of Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Timbers Nature Preserve, 324 Pine Top Drive. The Fall Sweep involves volunteers cleaning up trash found anywhere in the entire park, including the waterways, all part of the Keep Murphy Beautiful mission.

The KMB Green Team and personnel from the Murphy Parks Department will be on hand to check-in volunteers and distribute T-shirts and collection supplies.

“We’re inviting groups, organizations, families, and individuals to assist with this important effort,” said Scott. “The pride that Murphy residents have for their parks and open spaces is always very evident when we ask for volunteers for these clean-up events, and we’re expecting a great group of people coming together for the Fall Sweep.”

Depending on the amount of litter and trash in the park, the event may end earlier than noon. Because of the current health situation, lunch will not be served, but bottled water will be provided. Check-in on the morning of the event will be in the large pavilion. Supplies, including gloves, trash bags, and trash pickers, will be provided.

Volunteers should visit and sign up on the Volunteer tab. Every person who volunteers should register and include all of the information requested in the sign-up form including name and date of birth. Volunteers 18 years of age and older must also enter their driver’s license number. Background checks will be completed for all adult volunteers, and volunteers 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

More information on the KMB Fall Sweep is available by contacting Scott at 972-468-4469 or via email at
