[ARCHIVED] MCC gym set to reopen

MCC - 205 N Murphy Road

Gymnasium at MCC to reopen on Monday, July 19

MUPRHY (July 16, 2021) Patrons of the gymnasium at the Murphy Community Center are welcome to return to the facility starting on Monday, July 19, as the gym will once again open its doors after the maintenance and updates which closed it in June have been completed.

During the brief closure, open gym has been held at the Murphy PSA facility. After Monday, however, Murphy PSA will no longer host open gym for MCC patrons.

Hours of operation for the Murphy Community Center gymnasium, 205 N. Murphy Road, will revert to 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The facility is not open on Sundays.

As always, the availability of open gym is subject to alteration based on scheduled classes, reservations, and events held in the gym.

Also, memberships or day passes are required to make use of the gym. Open gym reservations are available but must be limited to one hour.

Members seeking a one-hour timeslot may call 972-468-4444 after 8:30 a.m. and make a same-day reservation. Reservations for basketball play, while valid for the full hour, are limited to half-court play. Reservations for basketball, volleyball, badminton, or pickleball are being accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Information on attaining membership can be found on the City’s website Day passes for non-residents cost $5.00 and can be paid using Visa, Mastercard, or personal checks drawn on local or area banks.

Memberships and day passes are available to anyone, but individuals who are 17 years or younger must have an adult sign the paperwork when applying in person. Similarly, players 12 years of age or younger are required to be accompanied by an adult who remains present in the building during their entire stay.

More information or responses to questions can be obtained by contacting the Murphy Community Center at 972-468-4444 or via email at
