Murphy Court participates in mini-warrant roundup
MURPHY (October 18, 2019) Murphy’s Municipal Court is putting on a one-day mini-warrant roundup, giving Murphy residents, and those with Murphy-related fines, the opportunity to settle up with the court in a “no-arrest” environment.
The date of the mini-warrant roundup is Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Murphy Municipal Court is located at the Murphy Police Department, 206 North Murphy Road. In addition to Saturday, Nov. 2 it is normally open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“Our one-day mini-warrant roundup is designed as an opportunity to clear up those warrants that are still outstanding,” says Patti Towne, Murphy Municipal Court Administrator. “We know that some people with outstanding warrants find it hard to get here on a weekday during office hours. This mini-warrant roundup is a chance to get these taken care of on a Saturday.”
Individuals who have outstanding warrants or violations are encouraged to come in on Nov. 2 and make arrangements for payment. No one will be arrested if they voluntarily appear at the Court to resolve their outstanding cases.
Driving while a warrant remains outstanding can result in an arrest, adding to the fees and charges that have already accrued through lost time from work and other inconveniences.
“A way to avoid being arrested is to get the warrant cleared up, and doing so on Saturday, November 2 can provide peace of mind,” added Towne.
Payments can be made with cash, credit card or certified check. Personal checks will not be accepted. Payments can also be made on the Municipal Court website at www.murphytx.org/105/Courts.
Persons who know or suspect they have outstanding warrants or unpaid fines, should contact the Murphy Municipal Court at 972-468-4250, opt 0, to begin the process of clearing their record. Experienced Court Clerks are available to answer questions and provide additional information.
