Municipal Court holds Open House on November 5
Staff to welcome the public during Municipal Court Week
MURPHY (October 16, 2019) In support of the statewide Municipal Courts Week, this year set for Nov. 4 to 8, the staff at Murphy Municipal Court will be holding an Open House on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The annual Municipal Courts Week celebration highlights the work of judges, prosecutors, administrators, clerks, bailiffs and others involved in the Municipal Courts system throughout Texas.
In Murphy, the Municipal Court staff includes Municipal Court Judge Natalie Banuelos, Court Administrator Patti Towne, Juvenile Court Manager Heather Smith, Deputy Court Clerk Roberta Reyes, and Bailiff Lee Rhinebarger.
Located in the Police and Court Building within the Murphy City Hall complex, 206 North Murphy Road, the Open House will include an introduction of the Court staff, an overview presentation of the duties and functions of the office, tours of the Court and adjoining offices, along with the sharing of pertinent informational handouts regarding the Court’s role from various sources.
Demonstration and use of special goggles designed to illustrate the dangers of impaired driving will be included, as a way to discourage drivers from getting behind the wheel if under the influence of alcohol or other substances. The majority of the Court’s docket is related to driving violations, and an emphasis on safe driving is an important part of the Court’s educational efforts to diminish the dangers associated with that behavior.
Goodies for kids and light snacks will be served. Plentiful parking is available in the City Hall lots surrounding the building. More information on the Open House or any aspect of Municipal Court can be obtained by calling 972-468-4250.
