Calling all future ‘Hometown Heroes’

MURPHY (February 8, 2019) To recognize the special bond between moms and sons, the City of Murphy is presenting its Second Annual Mother and Son Extravaganza on Saturday, March 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.   The event is yet another opportunity for moms and sons to create more lasting memories and have lots of fun at the same time.

Set for the Murphy Community Center, 205 North Murphy Road, the theme for this year’s gathering is inspired by the popular Nickelodeon show “Paw Patrol,” chosen specifically because many young boys look up to role models who provide service to their community.

“Our theme will again provide a unique dress-up opportunity for mother/son duos,” says Debbie Scott, Recreation Specialist. "From police officer to firefighter to construction worker - so many possibilities to choose from. We can’t wait to see the entries in our costume contest that was so popular last year!"

In addition to a DJ, the evening’s festivities will feature a costume contest, bounce house, face painting, games, raffles, a professional photographer, and a buffet including pizza, chicken fingers, and a variety of desserts.  The Hometown Heroes theme will be prominent throughout the venue and as part of the evening’s activities.

Information on tickets and the event in general can be obtained by calling Debbie Scott at (972) 468-4496 or by sending an email message to dscott@murphytx.org.
