Annual MFR toy drive set to benefit advocacy center New, unwrapped toys accepted starting Nov. 20.
Once again, the firefighters of Murphy Fire Rescue are conducting the annual toy drive to benefit the kids served by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County.
New, unwrapped toys for boys and girls will be collected by the members of MFR starting on Sunday, Nov. 20 and continuing through Tuesday, Dec. 6. Toys can be dropped off at any time of day, during this period, by visiting the Fire Station, 206 North Murphy Road.
On the evening of Monday, Dec. 5, Santa Claus himself will be accepting toys from residents.
Toy donors can drive through the Fire Station, hand off their toys and get a special thank you from Santa as well as a candy cane. Donors will then proceed out of the rear of the Fire Station, entering onto Tom Clevenger Drive and back onto North Murphy Road.
The drive through begins at 5:30 p.m. and the last car will be accommodated at 8 p.m.
Drivers coming to the special event from the direction of Tom Kimbrough Stadium will be required to make a U-turn at the entrance to City Hall and drive on the northbound lane to enter the station.
Brightly colored Christmas lights will be positioned to assist drivers enter the correct bay. Caution while driving through the bay is, of course, essential.
Parking at the Fire Station is not available, but visitors may park around City Hall and at the PSA. Donors are encouraged to drop off their toys, park their vehicles, and take a photo with Santa.
