Four commission openings announced in Murphy
Deadline to apply for P&Z and MCDC is June 1
MURPHY (May 19, 2016) Four openings, two each on a pair of very active and crucial advisory boards are open, and the City of Murphy is seeking volunteers to fill them who can step forward and provide input, expertise and passion, says City Secretary Susie Quinn.
“Two position are open on the Planning and Zoning Commission, and two are also open on the Murphy Community Development Corporation,” she said. “As is well known in the community, these two boards are key elements of Murphy’s growth and development.”
Interested individuals should review the requirements for service on these commissions, available on the Murphy web site at http://www.murphytx.org/84/Boards-Commissions-List before submitting their applications.
The Planning & Zoning Commission meets on the fourth Monday of the month at City Hall. The members of the commission review the Future Use Land Plan and Comprehensive Zoning Ordinances and analyze matters that affect the development of the city.
The MCDC meets as required, and is charged with planning and initiating projects on the City's behalf that promote community enhancements such as parks, related open space improvements, and economic development.
The deadline to apply for these four open positions is 5 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Interviews with potential appointees are conducted by a panel of City Council members. These interviews are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, June 2 and 3, and perhaps on the afternoon of Saturday, June 4 depending on the number of applications received.
