Murphy Fire Dept. sets 10th anniversary open house
MURPHY (September 17, 2015) Celebrating its tenth year of hosting residents, displaying exhibits, entertaining youngsters, demonstrating its capabilities, and offering a free hot dog lunch, the Murphy Fire Department is opening its doors for its annual open house on Saturday, Oct. 10, says Fire Chief Mark Lee.
“To commemorate our tenth anniversary of open houses, we are once again inviting all residents to come spend time with us,” he said. “Our personnel have as much, and in many cases, more fun than our visitors, so we all look forward to it every year!”
Set for Saturday, Oct. 10, the open house starts at 11 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m. The Fire House is located at 206 North Murphy Road in the Municipal Complex. Parking is plentiful in the various lots around the municipal campus, however, the fall Clean & Green event and the Collin County Farmers Market are also scheduled for that day.
The Clean & Green event, which converts the City Hall driveways into a drop-off route for recyclable materials, will conclude at 10 a.m. The lots and driveways within the complex should be free of recycling containers and vehicles by 10:30 a.m. The Farmers Market, however, will remain open until noon. Murphy PSA will have a full morning of games scheduled, filling up their parking area as usual.
“We are confident that there will be plenty of time between events as well as plenty of spaces available when people begin to arrive for the open house,” said the Chief.
In addition to live demonstrations, the firefighters are planning to host games, station tours, a coloring contest, and lots of kid and adult activities and photo-taking opportunities.
Sparky the Fire Dog, the Care Flight helicopter, fire truck bounce house, and fire safety videos will keep visitors busy and entertained. Free hot dogs, popcorn and beverages will be served throughout the event.
