CERT Basic Training

Welcome to CERT Basic Training with Murphy CERT!


We have required you to register so that we may know who is taking this on-line training, as well as using the contact information to pass along further required information such as details for the in-person meetings and final exam process.

For the on-line classroom portion, please follow this link to create an account on the server and to begin your training:  On-Line CERT registration (the CERT training is FREE). When filling out that account registration, you may enter “self” for company/organization. Under Select Your CERT Organization, please select “Murphy CERT”. If you have questions or issues with the on-line portion, there is a HubBot chat window available at the bottom right of the form (not necessarily real-time responses, however.)

Just a reminder of the nominal schedule:

  • Registration Open: July 18, 2025 – August 26, 2025 (however, if you wait too long, you will be running behind)
  • Optional Information Session: Thursday, July 31, 7:00 - 8:30pm at the MFR Training Room (206 N Murphy Rd)
  • August 17 - October 26, 2025, on-line classes chapters 1-9 and final exam (self-paced, but this is suggested class pace)

There will be two in-person Mid-Term Sessions to allow for open forum to ask questions about the on-line portion and specifically to go over hands on skills related to those activities.

Tentative schedule for the hands-on mid-term sessions:

  • In-Person Mid-Term Session 1: Thursday evening, September 4, 7:00 – 9:00pm at MFR Training Room - covers Chapters 1-3 material
  • In-Person Mid-Term Session 2: Thursday evening, October 2, 7:00 - 9:00pm at MFR Training Room - covers Chapters 4-7 material
  • There will also be an optional in-person refresher on Thursday evening, October 23, 7:00 - 9:00pm at MFR Training Room for any questions on any material or hands-on skills - addresses material from chapters 8 & 9
  • Skills Proficiency: students get to demonstrate knowledge and hands-on skills, Saturday November 8, 2025 (tentatively scheduled for 8:00am to 12:00pm)
