Community Networking

Reaching the Community

The Murphy Police Department has embraced social media for non-emergency communication with residents of Murphy and the surrounding cities. Utilizing various social media and public alert sites we send out updates for topics such as planned road obstructions, department and employee accomplishments, and volunteer opportunities. All of this is in addition to the city's Smart911.com™ emergency notification system.

Two-way Communication

The greatest attribute of social media in Law Enforcement is not the ability for us to send messages, rather, the ability for you to send us messages or provide feedback on stories we publish. We encourage and appreciate all feedback but would like to remind you that these pages are family friendly and, as such, there is a zero-tolerance policy for profanity and/or derogatory statements. If you have a complaint with our department or its members there are official venues for addressing those issues.

One-way Alerts

In addition to the above social media sites the Murphy Police Department has teamed up with Rave Smart911™, a free system to the public, which allows us to push crime and other non-emergency bulletins directly to your email and cell phone via SMS (text messaging). Rave Alert is great for managing which type of messages (Alerts, Advisories, and Community Notices) you wish to receive. To sign-up click here and follow the on-screen registration process.
