Second annual Tunes, Tails and Ales set for April 29
MURPHY (April 14, 2017) Bolstered by the surprising success of last year’s inaugural Tunes, Tails and Ales, the City of Murphy’s Special Events Department is gearing up for an even larger version this year, scheduled for Saturday, April 29.
“The initial event exceeded our expectations on several fronts,” says Kayla McFarland, Special Events Coordinator. “Not only were the crowds larger than we anticipated, but everything from the weather to the number of compliments from attendees, vendors and exhibitors was overwhelmingly positive.”
The second annual Tunes, Tails and Ales opens with VIP entry into the beer garden at 1 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. official opening of the event, which includes general admission into the beer garden. The beer garden will close promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Entry to the event is free, with food and drinks, including wine and non-craft beers available for purchase. Food trucks providing a wide selection of foods, will occupy the food truck plaza, including crawfish from Cajun Crawfish Company, La Rosita’s Tacos, BellaTrino Pizzeria, Cajun Tailgators, Amadeo Cuisine, and BratHaus LLC. A pound-and-a-half of crawfish will sell for $12, while two pounds will sell for $15.00. Tickets for the crawfish can be purchased onsite.
“The event is free for everything except what you purchase,” she said. “Persons who wish to try the variety of craft beers will be required to be at least 21 years of age, and purchase either a VIP or general admission ticket.”
Interested craft beer aficionados can visit www.murphycraftbeerfest.com to purchase a VIP or general admission ticket. VIP tickets are sold in limited quantities for $50 (plus tax) online prior to the event, and will not be sold on-site. General admission tickets will be sold online for $30 (plus tax) and for $40 at the festival. The craft beer festival has a presence on Facebook at www.facebook.com/murphycraftbeerfest/.
Tickets are not required for purchasing wine by the glass, canned beers, food, or simply attending the event. In addition to food and drink, a pint-sized kid zone featuring the splash pad, playground, bounce houses, face painting, yard games, and more will be set up. The concession stand near the playground will be selling soft drinks for $2 and root beer float kits for $4.
A free concert will be presented at the amphitheater stage from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with LE Freak, self-proclaimed as the Greatest Disco Band in the World.
Open parking will include Murphy City Hall parking lots and Tom Kimbrough Stadium. However, there will be no shuttle services available. Lyft has provided a discount code to new users who utilize their services to get to and from the festival. Patrons should sign up with code: MURPHYBREWS for the special discount.
“This is a family-friendly event and we encourage everyone to come out and have fun. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit the Murphy Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund,” said McFarland.
Sponsors include the City of Murphy, the Murphy Community Development Corporation, Farmers Electric Cooperative, Lyft, Andrews Distributing, Tupps Brewery, Yelp, Good Neighbor Brewing, and Full Clip Craft Distributors. The event is presented in partnership with Brewvolution LLC.
